With a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and degrees in Biological Sciences and Pharmacy, he has had a long career as Professor of Microbiology at the Faculties of Veterinary Medicine in Zaragoza and Pharmacy in Barcelona. He has also served as Professor of Microbiology, Virology, and Immunology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Madrid and Professor of Animal Pathology at the same faculty.
